The actions you should take will depend on the situation you’re in.
Is it an emergency?
An emergency is any medical problem that causes extreme pain, severe blood loss, or could cause death or permanent injury if not treated quickly. An example of an emergency is struggling to breathe, going into early labour (childbirth) or being hit by a car.
If you have an emergency, call 000.
If you’re feeling unwell but it’s not life-threatening, CBHS International Health provides three ways to access a doctor or General Practitioner (GP):
- Online (telehealth or video)
- In person (face-to-face) at a medical centre or practice or
- You can get a doctor to visit you after-hours at home.
Online doctors – telehealth and video consults
You can speak to a fully qualified doctor based in Australia from the comfort of your own home or office via your smartphone or desktop. Whether you need a health consultation, medical certificate, referral letter or prescription, these services are available on demand (during extended hours) or by appointment. If you require a prescription it will be sent digitally to a pharmacy of your choice.
