Before you leave home checklist
There are several things that you need to do before you leave home. We have created a brief checklist to help you get started. Click on the below to view your checklist that is right for you.
For Students
✓ Organise and understand your visa requirements.
✓ Organise and confirm your accommodation.
You might want to consider:
- Campus accommodation. Refer to your education institution for options.
- Temporary accommodation: Stay in discounted hotel/motel or self-service accommodation and look for permanent accommodation after you have arrived.
✓ Sign up for newsletters and notifications from your education institution which may include information about orientation, campus details, course schedules and activities.
✓ Check with your education institution to find out if there is an Orientation day or week and book your travel so you arrive in time for the first day of Orientation.
✓ Make copies of your important documents, such as your passport and electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCOE). Carry a copy with you in your carry-on luggage. Keep them safe.
✓ Check the Australian Border Force website to confirm what you can and can’t bring into Australia before you pack.
✓ Pack clothes appropriate for the weather when you are due to arrive. Temperatures vary across Australia during the seasons. Plan ahead by checking the weather guide.
